Swanstrom, Arthur W. DDS Age 87, of Edina, died 9/23/10, after a long battle with cancer. He and his sister Barbara grew up in Mpls and attended West High School. He married Barbara Clements in September of 1945. Art attended the University of MN and received his Dental Degree in 1945. After serving as Dental Prosthetics Officer in the Navy, he joined his father in his Mpls practice in 1946. He practiced dentistry for 52 years, retiring in 1997, leaving his practice in the hands of his son, Dr. Arthur C. With the exception of his Navy assignment, he lived in Mpls and Edina his entire life. He had many patients, friends, hunting and fishing buddies. He was a great story teller and his office staff and patients were often treated to tales of his most recent trip to some remote spot on the globe. His adventures were many, exciting, humorous and entertained us all over the years. While fishing and hunting were his most famous avocations, he was a man of many skills and interests. Art was interested in business. He was a 50+ year member with Templar Masonic Lodge, Mpls Scottish Rite, York Rite, Zuhrah Shrine Temple and member of Zuhrah Legion of Honor, the Big Game Club, and Safari Club. Survived by wife of 65 years, Barbara; sons, Dr. Arthur (Annie) DDS, David, and Richard; grandson, Arthur W. (Sarah); great- grandchildren, Scout and Hawken; sister, Barbara Gonnella; and his loyal hunting dog Dipper. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to the Salvation Army.
